Description

1971 Chevrolet Impala Caprice NOS LH rear marker lamp 917583
Product Description
NOS genuine GM rear marker lamp, LH (drivers) side, part number 917583.
This fits 1971 Chevrolet Impala and Caprice only - was not used on Biscayne or BelAir.
Brand new, still in original GM Guide box, never installed.
With the particulars out of the way, let's have a little education.
Chevrolet used two different rear marker lamps on their full-size cars from 1971 - 1973 (not counting the Wagons, which are a completely different shape/size), and both used the same metal base, but the red lenses were different.
For this one (71 Impala & Caprice only - not 72-73), the lenses have molding numbers 5964013 (LH) and 5964014 (RH).
The other similar lamp fits 71-73 Biscayne and BelAir, as well as the 72-73 Impala and Caprice. That lamp has lenses with molding numbers 5964143 (LH) and 5964144 (RH).
If you look at the last two pictures in this auction, you can see the difference, as it's quite apparent if you know what you are looking for. The lamp on the left is the 71 Impala/Caprice lamp and you can see how far out of the lamp body the lens rises, while the lamp on the right is the BelAir/Biscayne and later Impala lamp, and the lens is almost flush with the lamp body.
So, if you've been looking at (and maybe even buying) the wrong lamps for your car from sellers on eBay, you now know MORE THAN THEY DO!!! I get very frustrated with sellers who do not take the time to educate themselves on what they are actually selling, and sluff off mistakes of this type. Not only is that a black eye for them, but, by association, a black eye for all sellers. I don't like being lumped in with them, since I spend a HUGE amount of time making sure I know EXACTLY what I am selling.
End of soapbox, and end of today's lesson...

Shipping - Payment
A few words to make things easier.
1. Combined shipping for multiple auctions is always available, but when the auction is over, you will have to wait until I revise things in my eBay "paperwork" to create just one invoice for all your purchased auctions.  And I have to do the revising
BEFORE
you pay.  If auctions are paid separately (i.e. before you receive my invoice combining items), eBay will no longer then let me combine them on one invoice.
AND
, eBay then automatically charges you separate shipping charges for each item, which is not refunded.  Again, this is eBay's set-up.  Combining auctions benefits you by saving you shipping and handling fees.
2. Payment is expected within 3 days.  After 8 days, I will file with eBay to have my auction fees refunded.  If there is a problem with 3 days, please let me know, as I am not unreasonable, and I know that things happen.  Just be aware that having been on eBay full-time for several years has already afforded me an opportunity to hear a lot of "creative" stories.
Thanks for your bid.
