    Description

Start with a clean slate every time you wish to record your thoughts with our Tabula Rasa Roman Wax Tablet, the low tech iPad of the Old World. Wax tablets or Tabulae are a reusable form of writing dating back to antiquity and used throughout the medieval period. Consisting of two planks of wood connected by two strings of leather, thin layers of wax embedded into each plank form the writing surface. A brass stylus with two ends (one pointed and one flared) is then used as the writing utensil with the pointed end used to record and the other end used to erase by flattening the wax smooth. Due to the expense of paper, the impracticality of carrying around ink to use with quills and the value of parchment, wax tablets such as these were often the only logical solution for jotting down notes or other quick musings- it's use was very much along the lines of its digital descendants!
